On November 18, 2009, Rep. Parker Griffith [D-AL] asked the House to abolish the federal estate tax:
For a transcript of Rep. Griffith's few, but direct, words see here.
Rep. Griffith provides the following reasons for full repeal of the federal estate tax:
- The estate tax is a form of double taxation.
- It adversely impacts small businesses (and the American dream) by costing "small business owners thousands of hours in manpower and millions of dollars in legal counsel."
